The Iowa State University Polk County Extension Office has created a wonderful Demonstration Garden in this residential area of Urbandale. Each plant species is marked with an artistic sign. Among the specialized gardens are: Butterfly garden, Rose garden, Rainbow Connections Children’s Garden, Ornamental grasses, Woodland Walk, Arid Garden, and Birdhouse Island. Professional landscaping includes benches and picnic tables to encourage visitors to spend a little extra time enjoying this peaceful oasis and learning center. The garden is located on the corner of Dewey Gibbs Road and 92nd Street near Valerius Elementary School.
