Sac City’s Chautauqua Building is Iowa’s last remaining building of this kind. The auditorium, built in 1908, was used for all kinds entertainment – concerts, lectures, preaching, etc. and is still used for community events and family gatherings. It was recently renovated. There is a mural on Main Street that shows the activity around the Chautauqua building in its early years. The website below tells more about this landmark.
