It looks as if this quilt might have been painted before barn quilts became so popular. The red and blue pattern has the appearance of the designs found on barns in Pennsylvania Dutch country. The pattern is repeated on each of the doors, one definitely more weathered than the other, and they are painted directly on the doors rather than on a separate block. They can be seen on Hwy. G-50 in the tiny community of Hanley.

We found this quilt on our way to St. Charles on our day trip to Madison County.
