Aurora is a community of around 1000 inhabitants located in the northwest corner of Sevier County.

Most inhabitants of Aurora and the surrounding area are engaged in agriculture on the lush green farmland irrigated by water from the Sevier River. Some of those not engaged in farming are employed in mining, at the red rock salt mine near Redmond or the coal mines east of Salinas.
The town was settled in 1875 and the town has grown slowly over the years, mainly from offspring of the original four settler families and their descendents.
