This 6-pdr bronze field gun is located at the site where Howell’s Georgia Battery fought on Sept. 19, 1863, during the Battle of Chickamauga. Located on Brothernton Rd, east of Winfrey Field.

This battery with its Brigade crossed the Chickamauga late in the evening and night of the 18th, and when the Brigade became engaged about 8:30 A.M. of the 19th the Battery remained in its rear, ready to engage the enemy if an opportunity should offer, but only one section was brought into action on this ground as the Brigade was retire before the advance of Baird’s Division, and aided in checking its further progress. The battery was not engaged on the 20th. Casualties: 3 men killed: 4 men wounded; 3 horses killed and 3 wounded.
