In March 1943 Bletchley Park discover that the U boats have changed their Enigma code key. Bletchley employ a maverick mathematician, Tom Jericho, to help re-crack the code. It is believed that there may be a spy at Bletchley and Tom’s girlfriend disappears. Tom enlists Claire’s friend Hester to try and find what has happened to Claire. Tom and Hester discover that Claire has hidden un-decrypted messages under the floor boards of her billet. The pair also discover a government plot to bury news of the Katyn massacre. This leads them to believe that a Polish officer may be the traitor at Bletchley. Jericho trails the Polish officer and stops him from leaving on a U boat.
Tom and Hester have to be careful of being seen meeting so they arrange to meet at a local graveyard. That graveyard in reality is St Catherine’s churchyard.
