Thomas was born in Nevada and moved to the Bay Area as a child. He's a graduate of Yale and studied at UC Berkley under Berard Maybeck and John Galen Howard. Many of his houses around the East Bay combine Prairie, Craftsman, Mission and Austrian Secession influences. Though they look like they're built of stone, they actually made from a mix of wood frames and stucco.
