This monument was placed by J. Knowles Post #52 of the Maine Grand Army of the Republic (visit link) and the Women's Relief Corps (visit link) on October 18, 1907.

The inscription on the front of the monument reads:

"Dedicated to the memory of the defenders of our flag. 1861-1865".

The inscription on the back reads:

"J. Knowles Post No. 52 / W.R.C. No. 4"

This monument can be found on St. Albans Rd. near the intersection of routes 7, 11, 43, and 222 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=corinna,+me&ll=44.916924,-69.256096&spn=0.03039,0.085316&om=1)

As of 04/29/06 the site is undergoing renovations, but is still accessible.
