A 38 foot Fire Tower located at the summit of Fort Mountain State Park built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's.

Some interesting facts about the site:

The land which the park sits on was donated to the federal government in 1934 by former mayor Ivan Allen and later it was passed on the State of Georgia

The park is most notably known for a mysterious 800 foot long wall located a short distance away.

A pleasant hike from the parking area with a selection of a gradual climbing path or a path with stairs created by the CCC during the same time.

Also located nearby is probably one of the most panoramic views of the Blue Ridge mountains.

The most distinguishing feature of the tower is a heart shaped rock imbeded within one of its walls.

The fire tower is not accesible for climbing but it is still worth the visit.
