Peoria Cordage Company was started in 1888. The company manufactured binding twine and rope. The twine was used in the harvesting of grain crops. The company closed in 1975 due to decreased demand for binding twine and increased foreign competition. The building is used by another manufacturing firm, Tri-City Machine Products and also by Prairie Center of the Arts.
