The shrine of Guanyin, is a major sight in the city of Trang. The statue of the goddess is on a small hill to the west of the city, and visible from much of the city. It is illuminated at night.
This high point is reached by climbing a set of dingy looking steps from the Buddhist Wat Matchhimpum, at the eastern base of the hill. There is a more circuitous route on the western side of the hill. From atop this hill the central regions of Trang City can be seen: shops, apartments, and the provincial admin building—perhaps not the most exciting sight. Unfortunately, there is a rather annoyingly placed tree in the centre of the view, however, enough of the city can be seen.
