A large white granite stone inscribed as Canada's first Free School. This monument stands along the roadside, and the corner to the Beaverdams Church and graveyards.

The church just down the road is the site of the first "free school" in Canada (1847) organized by Rev. Egerton Ryerson, the father of education in Ontario.

At the site you will find several other waymarkable locations, including 2 graveyards and an Ontario Plaque regarding the church.
