Although its name, Cairn Liath, refers to Grey Cairn, it is more than a cairn.
The broch emerged during excavations in the early 19th century. Many artifacts were found: pottery, stone hammers, an iron blade ... just to name a few. This clearly showed that this site was inhabited over many centuries.
This broch has walls that still stand 3.6 m (12 ft) high in places and the entrance passage and lintelled doorway are well preserved.
