These flags are at the entrance to the car park of the branch on Norman Lane, Eccleshill, a suburb of Bradford.

The company has its headquarters in Bradford which is where the company started. William Morrison started off with an egg and butter stall in Rawdon Market in the centre of Bradford. His son took over the business in 1952 and in 1958 opened a small shop, which was the first self service store in Bradford and the first with prices marked on the products.

Three years later the company opened its first supermarket, also in Bradford. It has now grown to own 403 superstores, and in 2010 signed a deal with Peacocks a clothing company to allow them to have concessions inside Morrisons stores.

This branch in Bradford is the first one to hold a Peacocks concession.

Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc is listed in the FTSE 100 index of companies and the family still own 15.5% of the shares.
