Krabi town is situated in southern Thailand, ~700kms distant from Bangkok. The town contains a number of interesting statues, which, I gather, are designed to reflect the identity of the town and province. One of these statues is of a white-breasted sea eagle. This statue is situated on the Krabi River shoreline, near the town centre.
The eagle is displayed with its wings unfolded looking ready to leap into the air. There is a plaque on the plinth. The inscription describes the biology of these birds and states that there are a breeding pair of these eagles in the province. The statue was commissioned by the town government.
The river shore is a pleasant spot in the early evening, with several other statues and recreational facilities.
