Ming was the Archbishop of Canton officially recognized by the Holy See. He spent over 20 years in prison.

Tang was born in Hong Kong and was ordained as priest at the age of 33 on 31 May 1941.

Tang was arrested on February 5, 1958. The Chinese government charged him as "the most faithful running-dog of the reactionary Vatican." He was imprisoned 22 years in prison for not renouncing his loyalty to the Pope.

Tang was released in 1981 due to medical treatment for cancer. In 1981 he also became the Archbishop of Canton at age 73. He died in Stamford, Connecticut at age 87 and is buried at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara, CA.

The burial spot is inside St Clare chapel on the grounds of Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
