Grand View near Armour, SD won the vote for County Seat of Douglas County in 1882 and remained so until the railroad reached Armour, SD 12 years later. Now gone completely, Grand View was on the Fort Randall-to-Mitchell and the Scotland-to-Yankton stage lines and was the undisputed metropolis during its hayday. Upper Grand View had the Silver Cornet Band and Lower Grand View had the Martial Band, fiercely competetive, these Bands would play at the drop of a hat to show who was who in Grand View.
