Below is some information about the statue, which is five separate pieces, embedded in the earth and has the appearance of a man struggling to crawl out of the earth. It is easy to see on satellite imagery websites!
*****************************
Created by Seward Johnson, the original "The Awakening" was created in 1980 and is a 70-foot statue made of five separate parts that depicts a giant man trying to free himself from the earth. The original was located at Hains Point in Washington, D.C. for nearly twenty-eight years, with Johnson maintaining ownership. In February 2008 it was moved to East Potomac Park in Prince George's County in Maryland, and at that time an attempt was made by the new curator to adjust some of the distortion in the scale of the sculpture, by re-arranging some of the placement of the pieces of the sculputure.
This copy was placed in Chesterfield, Missouri in 1990 (you can see an article and video here: (visit link)
