This is one of several similar works by this artist throughout this area of the City. In fact, another one (WMBKC8) is located diagonally across the street from this one.
Similar to its sibling across the street, this piece sprouts from the sidewalk and rises like a large and sturdy seedling with a roundish top - but this one does not have a ball at its top. Instead, it has reddish nodules protruding from the "bud".
The piece, called Oculi Mundi is signed Deanna Smith and dated 1999.
