This Eagle Scout project was completed in May 2001. Chisholm Trail Park is a large, beautifully designed park which has many sculptures to enjoy, picnic pavilions and gazebos, ponds with fountains, and an interesting walking trail shaped like a boot. The overhead google map shows the boot with the heel to the right and the boot top to the north.
Along the west side of the trails, the "front" of the boot has design work much as you would have tooled into the leather of a real boot. One of these designs in a landscaped garden which is long, north to south, and curvy. The areas are outlined with landscaping blocks and edging, and planted with shrubs and flowers. Four sculptures of children playing are located here too.
The plaque reads: "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA / Eagle Service Project Completed May 2001 by Greg Newby Troop 390".
Greg Newby graduated from Yukon High school and went on to get a B.A. in English at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper. He currently is President and co-owner of Next World Productions, a company which provides film and video, as well as writing assistance and internet advertising.
