One of four cannons at the mounument to Battery C, 1st Illinois Light Artillery in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863.

When standing behind the four cannons – this one is the on the left side of the monument.

This battery with its Brigade moved from Pond Spring early in the morning, forming temporary line of battle near Crawfish Spring, and, subsequently, near Lee and Gordon’s Mill, without becoming seriously engaged.
