In the small village of Midwich all the inhabitants mysteriously fall asleep for a number of hours. Some months later all the women of the village, of childbearing age, becomes pregnant. When the children are born they grow rapidly, have strange eyes and are exceptionally gifted. As the children age they develop the ability to read minds and start to control the population. Fearful of the end result a local scientist detonates a bomb in the children’s classroom.
