Painted on the back wall of a business on W. 7th Street, this mural is noticeable because it faces a small park.

In the 200 block of W. 6th Street is the Jim R. Newport Memorial Park. This small downtown park has a mural and fountain and areas to rest and enjoy the beauty.
To the south of this park, on the other side of the iron fence is the back of Okmulgee Glass & Mirror Co., which faces W. 7th Street. Painted on the back of this one-story building is a mural showcasing Okmulgee.
On the left side (east) is a map of Okmulgee Lake, showing the individual recreational Areas. The center section of the mural is not distinctive, but in the upper left of the center, it appears to show a man hanging from a tree (significance???). The right side (west) shows an Okmulgee Street filled with spectators. Horses and riders are in the street, under a banner which reads "Pioneer Pow Wows June 20, 21, 22 Round Up Club." The Pioneer Pow Wow is presented annually in Okmulgee.
The mural is not a showpiece. Back behind a building, it is surrounded by trash dumpsters and discarded items...but it is a mural, and it can be seen by those in the park.
The website shown below, though, not specifically about the mural or the Pow Wow, is interesting as it was taken in 1960 by someone driving through Okmulgee on a visit to the Pow Wow that year. Gene Autry made an appearance at the Pow Wow in 1960.
