13-24 Drive In, Wabash, IN [ OPEN!!!!!!!!] - Closed Drive-In Theatres on Waymarking.com

UPDATE June 2011:
We just read on the Honeywell Center Foundation of Wabash web site that the theater was purchased by a local family (Beachump) and has been turned over to the Honeywell Center Foundation for operation with proceeds going to the foundation. Operations are to begin June 10 2011 with preview night. Honeywell Center has experience in a venture like this too. They purchased the vintage Eagle Theater in downtown Wabash, refurbished it and run it to this day so this is GREAT news for Wabash! It looks as if the Drive In is back to stay. They have a facebook page up already ( (visit link) ) and the theater web page is back up too!!!! Its not often we get to report such good news as a dark drive in getting lit back up. We are going to be there for the grand opening! Wahoo!!!!

We were there the first day it was closed in 2010. We went to see a movie, the listing was in the paper, and when we got there we found a sign stating "technical difficulty", an apology, and closed for the night. We kept coming by in the months to come (we don't live in Wabash but travel by it) and by summer's end there was a closed sign on the marquee (very sad). Since then the other side now says for sale as does a sign on the ticket booth. We are hoping the drive in finds a new owner before it becomes too late and it is another loss. The drive in is in good condition as of 2010 and even today (2011) it is being maintained (grass cut etc.) It was open weekends and possibly weekdays, Attendance was normally good with a few exceptions. The snack bar was well stocked and we liked the place a lot. There is a small playground on the south side in front of the screen.

We hope it comes back, we sure do miss it!
