Located in Jim R. Newport Memorial Park on W. 6th Street in downtown Okmulgee, this mural is painted on a stucco'd brick wall on the west side of the park. The area has benches and a fountain, and provides a respite for the weary shopper.
This mural shows a pecan pie about 10 ft. in diameter, with a banner reading "WORLD'S LARGEST PECAN PIE, OKMULGEE, OK". The artists have written at the bottom "IMARTISTICINDULGENCEMMII". Searching the web, we find a site for Irene and Mike Menasco's art gallery "Artistic Indulgence" in Minneappolis, MN. The site indicates that they relocated from Oklahoma, so it would appear they are the artists for this mural, which was painted in MMII (2002).
