These two Peanuts characters stand in front of REI ready to greet customers at the front door. There are numerous Peanuts statues scattered around the area communities after being created for several different exhibits in the early 2000’s. REI was one of the businesses who received two of the statues when they were auctioned off each year. Charles Schultz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip, was born in St. Paul.
Charlie Brown is called “Mr. Soapy” in the “Charlie Brown Around Town” event, done by artist Mary Roettger and sponsored by Ecolab, Inc. Lucy was part of “Looking for Lucy” and done by artist Holly Welch and sponsored by the St. Paul Foundation.
