This artistic addition to the westbound Blue Earth rest stop is a reminder of the life on the prairie before early settlers moved into this territory. The terra cotta relief casting is entitled “Pre-Settlement” and shows the bison which inhabited the land providing food for the Native American people. Artist Donald Obernolte was assisted by Paul Gustafson and Mike Fraser to create a nice addition to this rest stop. It can be found just in front of the rest stop building.
