The best of all possible recreational worlds is found at the new Rivers Bend Campground just north of Rock Valley. Created for both overnight camping and day use, the facility welcomes all who are interested in outdoor activities such as camping, biking, fishing, hiking, and canoeing.
The 94 acre parcel of land was formerly a gravel quarry and lies only a stone’s throw from the Rock River. Two fishing ponds, each with a disability accessible pier, and a sandy swimming beach provide hours of entertainment as does the basketball and volleyball courts and a children’s playground. Several miles of paved walking/biking trails are accessible near the tenting area.
Camping facilities include 74 generous concrete camping pads with hookups and 7 primitive tenting sites. Each one has a picnic table, fire ring, and access to three modern shower houses. Paved roads meander throughout the grounds and a sewer dump station is available. The entire campsite is designed to be disability accessible, with level paved roads and wheelchair friendly rest room and shower facilities.
River Bend Campground is open from April 15 to October 31. Camping charges range from $10-$20 per night with weekly and monthly rates available. Day use fee is $5 with seasonal rates offered as well. 2433 300th Street, Rock Valley, IA 51247, (712) 476-6065
