The plaque reads:

"VE DAY
ROSE BED
To commemorate the 50th anniversary
of Victory in Europe,
this bed of United Nations
Peace - keeper roses was planted
on 8 May 1995 by Director of the
National Maritime Museum,
Richard Ormond, and Friends of the
National Maritime Museum:
Mr Ernest Ashworth, Miss Mona Robinson,
Mr Brian Thomas and Miss Doreen Lowes."

The roses are just starting to come into bloom.
