"Sibley Hall is the oldest and most celebrated building on campus. Named after Lindenwood founders Major George C. and Mary Easton Sibley, this women's residence started out as a wooden cabin back in 1827, when the university was founded as Linden Wood Women's Seminary. The brick building we see today was built around the original wooden one in 1856 and contained the entire campus until the construction of Ayers Hall in 1908." ~ university site
