Ste Lucie-de-Tallano is a picturesque hill town in South Corsica. On our walk around the town we found an old sundial on a private residence. At one time this would have been a prominent sundial but the masonry is weathered, stained, and flaked. Faint blue hour lines have been repainted but are hardly visible. The gnomon is in place and in good condition but not noticed as it is painted white giving little contrast against the wall. The end of the gnomon is a disc with a hole to project a spot, indicative of a well designed sundial. Declination lines were not evident.
This is an afternoon sundial as it is declining west. The sun was just coming onto the dial when we were there at 11:15 dst on 12 April when the dial indicted 10 am local solar time.
To find the sundial, start at the main square, pass to the left of the church and then the "Maison Forte, A Turri”. Go through the arch to “Place de la Collettta” to see the south west facing sundial.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
