In 1898, a pharmacist named Caleb Bradham in New Bern, North Carolina began experimenting with combinations of spices, juices, and syrups trying to create a refreshing new drink to serve his customers. The name Pepsi-cola came from using kola nuts and pepsin (a digestive enzyme). The easily recognized logo seen in this flag has been in use since 2008. PepsiCo generates more than $60 billion and has over 285,000 employees.
