Not much information was found regarding the military service of Stephen Grover. It was noted that he served in the Connecticut miltia under Chapman in 1778. His rank was unknown.
From the First Presbyterian Churchs website:
On July 23, 1788, Rev. Stephen Grover was duly ordained and installed as the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. A later pastor Richard F. Cleveland, who was installed as pastor for the church in May 1834 and was given the use of the Parsonage House. When the Rev. Cleveland had a son in the parsonage, he named him after Rev. Grover to pay honor to him. This son, Grover Cleveland became the 22nd and 24th President of the United States.
