On 4/10/2013 a massive landslide totally destroyed the Mine Visitor Center. Because of advance warning everything at the Visitor Center had been removed to a safe location. A new Visitor Center will probably not be available until after 2014.

[Legacy] The Kennecott Copper Mine in Bingham Canyon is one of the favorite tourist attractions in the Salt Lake valley. It is the largest open pit copper mine in the world. The tire is from the extremely large mining trucks used at the mine. We have displayed two photos together to show the size of the tire.
This tire is on display at the visitors center at the mine.
