The sign shows the unusual Church in the village with rural scenes and a steam train. The rail line splits in two, with the mainline to the west and a single track slow line in a cutting to the east. There is a small nature reserve between the two tracks. The dates 1894 and 1994 are shown and the sign is on a wooden post.

It is in North Bedfordshire, near the county border with Northamptonshire, and the nearest town being Rushden in Northants, which it borders to the north.
Wymington was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as a parish within the Hundred of Willey, although in Bedfordshire, this has a Wellingborough dialing code and Rushden postcode.
