We located a couple of old homes while waymarking in the area, this was one of them. They are located near the downtown area.

The marker on the house reads:

This Victorian Eclectic-style house was constructed in 1906 by Thomas Harris for his wife and son, Caroline and Fay. It is representative of the types of houses built by residents of Centerville as the community branched out beyond its aricultural roots at the turn of the 20th century.

Thomas Harris, born in Norfolk, England, in 1841, immigrated to Centereville in 1851. Caroline Cherry Harris was born in Illinois in 1845. Married in 1868, the Harrises, like most residents of Centerville, were devout members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Thomas had a variety of occupations, including freighter, farmer, horse trainer, and carpenter. Caroline was one of the first Relief Society teachers in the Centerville First Ward of the LDS church; she was also a talented seamstress who made wool clothing for the family.
