In July 2001, firefighters and support crew from 11 states and a dozen government agencies rushed to control a wildfire above Mosquito Creek, that had burned more than 4600 acres.

When a careless camper's fire lept free from its ring and began to run wild through the forests above Wilson, WY, 37 fire fighting aircraft and 1200 wildland firefighters rushed to control the flames.
In the process, over the next eight days, their efforts were rewarded by contolling the blaze, thereby saving over 100 homes.
This memorial was erected by the local citizens as a "Thank You" to the wildland firefighters who fought to save thier homes.
