The chapel No.8 is part of pilgrimage route (
visit link) from Prague Loreto (
visit link) to Hajek Loreto Franciscan monastery (
visit link) , located on the outskirts of Prague near the town Unhošt.
The path was consisted 20 alcoved chapels. The chapels are located on the route about 20 km long. The distance between the chapels is about 600-1100 meters. The pilgrimage route was built between 1720-1726. The construction of each chapels sponsored one donor. His name was part of the gable of the chapel. The chapels was decorated with frescoes from the life of the Virgin Mary and the life of St. Francis. The chapels undergone two renovations in the years 1751-1752 and 1773-1774. But then the situation began to deteriorate.
In the years 1899-1990 has been fixed 14 chapels, which survived until then. Defunct fresco paintings are gradually replaced by images on metal plates. Since 1999 gradual reconstruction proceeds and a well-preserved chapels are repaired.
Chapel No.8 should be replaced by a replica, but it was finally changed. The chapel was dismantled and was moved near the monastery of Our Lady Victorious at Bílá Hora (a corner of street Karlovarska and Repska)
