Information about the cemetery;
In 1874 churches petitioned the United States Government for some land for a non-denominational cemetery. As a result the federal government granted 20 acres to become Mt Olivet Cemetery. The cemetery has been enlarged to 80 acres and currently has 55,154 burial plots and as of 1997 has recorded 26,097 burials.
