The Lamb-McSwain house ws built in 1926 in a Craftsman style. The house was constructed using mail-order blue prints designed by Ye Planry Architects of Dallas, Texas. The house was constructed by the original African-American owner John W. Lamb with the help of his younger brother Ellard Lamb.
John W. Lamb made a life long career in the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and it was through this job he accumulated saving to purchase the and and build this house.
Bernice Lamb McSwain, daughter of the original owner/builder moved back to the house after the death of her parents. The house is now occupied by the grandson of the original who is an architect and is active in historic preservation and documenting historic buildings in the area. - from National Register Nomination form and discussion with current occupant
