This impressive hydroelectric dam on the Watarase River in Gunma Prefecture is 460 feet (140m) high with a crest length of 1,330 feet (405m). There is a nice rest are here for viewing.

This makes a nice rest stop when driving along Route 122 up to the Nikko National Park, Kegon Falls and the Lake Chuzenji region by Mt. Nantai. There are interpretive signs and rest facilities here. There are views of the lake behind the dam and the river below.
The Watarase River is a 66 mile long class A river which in the central Kanto region of the main island of Honshu. It is a tributary of the Tone River which runs through Maebashi, the capital of Gunma Prefecture.
