Colorado State Capitol Building - Denver, CO - Wikipedia Entries on Waymarking.com

Construction began on this building in 1890 and was completed in 1894. It houses the offices of the Governor, Lt. Governor and both houses of the State Legislature. In recognition of Denver's gold rush, the building's dome was gold plated in 1908. There are two benchmarks on the Capitol's steps marking the elevation at 5,280 feet- and supports the City's nickname as "The Mile High City".
Surrounding the Capitol are various sculptures, memorials, historical markers, etc.
