According to the Wikipedia article (visit link) (b.1942 New York) on the artist of this piece, Lawrence Weiner, much of his work deals with typographic texts, and adds: "Weiner works in a wide variety of media, including video, film, books, sound art using audio tape, sculpture, performance art, installation art, and graphic art."
The plaque accompanying this piece reads:

The Museum's website (visit link) also shows a green version of this work inside it's atrium, but the poster of this waymark did not notice this on his 4/23/11 visit.
