Navan is a village within the city limits of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada.

The sign depicts the Guinness World Record "50 Horse Hitch". On Sunday, August 13th, 1995, fifty Clydesdale horses were hitched together to honor the 50th anniversary of the Navan Fair. The hitch was driven for 3 kms through the streets of Navan and made the Guinness Record.

The Navan Fair is a big event every August. It was launched in 1946, when the village had a population of only 4,000 dedicated to the pursuits of agriculture. This rural celebration has all the countrified events one would expect from a great country fair :

• Live entertainment all weekend long
• Midway
• Demolition derby
• Horse shows
• Agricultural displays and exhibits
• Livestock competitions
• Antique machinery and tractor display
• Parade
