Eden is the final stop on the "Golden Circle Tour" of Iceland. Some describe it as touristy place featuring souvenirs and ice cream; but a greenhouse that uses geothermal energy that supplies Icelanders with fruits, flowers, and vegetables all year round is a scientific achievement that makes the this visit both interesting and informative. This is especially impressive since there are few hours of natural light in Iceland during winter months. Consequently, an elaborate lighting system that duplicates the solar spectrum must be employed. Eden's network of greenhouses can give visitors an idea of how this can be done.
