[PT]História da Igreja:
A igreja original foi construída na década de 1370 pelo bispo de Lisboa D. Agapito Colonna (que governou a diocese de 1371-1378).

A igreja em si foi-se degradando com o tempo, dando lugar à reconstrução de uma nova por volta de 1511, ao mesmo tempo que a freguesia civil e eclesiástica de Camarate foi separado de Sacavém.

No entanto, o actual edifício data do século XVII, quando foi novamente reconstruída.

Características de arquitetura:
A Igreja Matriz de Camarate é descrito como um templo de uma só nave, coberta pela capela.

A fachada é sóbria, tendo como elemento central de um portal de mármore retangular, encimada por um frontão, que abrange uma janela retangular. À direita está o campanário, completada por uma cúpula.

Dentro do século XVII, destacam-se os azulejos pretos e brancos dispostos em padrões geométricos, o altar de pedra de mármore, e até mesmo o teto coberto de pinturas de meados do século XVII com cenas da vida do apóstolo São Tiago Maior. Ao longo da nave existem quatro altares laterais, e até dois para cercar a capela, dedicada a Santiago, respectivamente, e Nossa Senhora de Fátima.

Destacamos também o magnífico trabalho de talha dourada na capela-mor, e o teto de gesso. Em ambos os lados do altar para encontrar duas pinturas recentemente restaurado, pintado por volta de 1710 por Antonio Machado Sapateiro.

A Igreja de Camarate, com o seu recheio e do cruzeiro foi declarado Imóvel de Interesse Público pelo Decreto n. º 2 / 96 de 6 de março de 1996.

The original church was build camaratense in the 1370s by the bishop of Lisbon D. Agapito Colonna (who ruled the diocese from 1371 to 1378).

The church itself was degrading with time, giving rise to the reconstruction of a new circa 1511, at the same time that the civil and ecclesiastical parish of Camarate was separated from neighboring Sacavém.

However, the present building dates from the early seventeenth century, when it was again rebuilt.

Architectural features:
The church matriz of Camarate is described as a temple of a single nave, topped by the chapel.

The facade is sober, having as central element of the rectangular marble portal, surmounted by a pediment, which covers a rectangular window. On the right is the bell tower, completed by a dome.

Inside seventeenth century, stood out the black and white tiles arranged in geometric patterns, the altar stone, marble and even the ceiling covered with paintings of the mid-seventeenth century depicting scenes from the life of the apostle Saint James the Greater. Along the nave are four side altars, and even two to surround the chapel, dedicated respectively to Santiago and Nossa Senhora de Fátima.

Also highlight the magnificent work of gilt in the chancel, and the ceiling plaster. On both sides of the altar to find two recently restored paintings, painted around 1710 by Antonio Machado Sapateiro.

The Church of Camarate, with their filling and the cruise was declared a Public Interest by Decree No. 2 / 96, 6 March 1996.
