This dyke forms the second point of interest in Earthcache "Campbell’s Hole Volcanic Dykes" GC311VW looking at the dykes in this area.
At this site, you will see how a part of this dyke has emerged from the cliffline and then sat flush with the surrounding rock. Observe how the dyke is a lesser distinct dark grey and contrasts much less with the surrounding rock compared with Dyke 1.
There are several possibilities in the formation of this dyke and the writer conjectures that the cave was formed by hot magma oozing out of a space it had formed leaving a void as well as earth movements having taken place.
