Whilst modern maps show the mountain at this location as Mount Banks, it is also shown as Mount King George on older maps. The trig station is enclosed within forest as Mt Banks is among a number of richly fertile basalt peaks in this region.
The trig station is accessed via a walking track which starts at the Mt Banks Picnic Area just behind Waymark WMBA5W "George Caley Expedition, Mt Banks, NSW".
