Liberty Park was the scene of Utah's most notorious hate crimes. It was over 30 years ago when two black men were murdered in cold blood, in a quiet Salt Lake City neighborhood. The two men were jogging with white women, when racist serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin shot them.
Franklin was later convicted and sentenced to death for their murders and several others. Joseph Franklin, sits on death row in Missouri. Franklin is suspected in killing nearly two dozen people, and is notoriously know for shooting civil rights leader Vernon Jordan and Hustler Magazine Publisher Larry Flynt.
