Buffalo Bill, the showman of showmen in the 19th and early 20th centuries, wore distinctive outfits to stand out amongst all the cast members in his Wild West Shows. This was his last. It is a leather jacket with colorful floral designs on each side and with Indian beaded patches on each sleeve. The hat matches the jacket in color but is non-decorative.
The placard accompanying the outfit reads:
"SHOW OUTFIT
This was Buffalo Bill's last show outfit.
The hat was worn by him was worn by him at his last
public appearance on nov. 11, 1916,
just two months before his death."
